If you need to keep your website up to date, or have a blog, slideshow, image gallery, want to integrate your social media then we should talk about using a Content Management System (CMS). With a CMS you get a website that is very easy to update, and has the power to grow as your business does. Slideshows, galleries, online bookings and calendars are all a piece of cake for you to manage and keep up to date with one of my CMS websites.
The first step is to meet and have talk about what it is you want your website to do for you.
After the meeting, if we decide that we want to work together, I would send you an initial quotation and provide some mock-ups with ideas for what some of the pages on your website would look like. If there any changes you need making, then I would update the designs untill you are happy
Once the designs are approved, I would provde a detailed qotation and an invoice for up to half of the total cost of the website. A small CMS could cost as little as £200 which includes the cost of hosting and updates to the CMS software for the first year. As soon as the invoice is paid, I will start work creating your website and provide you with a link to it so that you can see the work progressing.
Once the website is completed and you are completly happy with it, then I would invoice you for the balance of payment, and once this has been paid, I would link the website to your domain name. If you would rather use your own hosting then I would send you a compressed archive containing all of the website files and a copy of the database.
You want people to be able to find your website so I carefully design it to be understandable by search engines, and I will send a sitemap of your website to Google to let them know where to find you. With a CMS we can also make sure that the site map is automatically updated as you add new content. If you need more than basic SEO then I can create a package just for you.
Your CMS is very easy to update, but if you would like me to look after updates, so that you can focus on your business then we can arrange for that as well.
If you don't already have one, then you will need to purchase a domain name for your website - the address that people will type in, like regencybuilders.co.uk. I can help you to choose a domain name and can also purchase and renew it each year for you. A typical .co.uk domain name currently costs approximatley £15 per annum.
For the CMS to run well, and your site to load quickly and reliably, it is very important to have high performance hosting. I use hosting that is optimised for CMS with fast database performance to make sure that your website is nice and snappy. Hosting for the first year is free, but after that, there is a hosting fee starting at £70 per annum. While it is possible to find hosting that is a little cheaper, trying to save a tenner here can lead to a lot of frustration!
The CMS software running your website is both powerful and complex, and updates are released regularly. These updates are usually for improved functionality, but they can contain security patches. It is vital that these are applied quickly to avoid your website becoming compromised, which is bad for you, your customers and your reputation. Unfortunatly there are a lot of criminal gangs who make their living trying to take over web servers so that they can use them in online attacks, so every website is a target for ther automated networks. In the first year, all updates to the CMS and other modules are free but after that, if you are using my hosting I charge £40 per annum to keep your site patched up to date.
With a CMS your data will change more frequently, especially if you have something like an online booking system. Daily backups to the hosting server are included but for additional peace of mind I can arrange for weekly backups to offsite storage, or even daily - depending on how often your key data is changing
To be compliant with the GDPR regulations and reassure your customers you will want to use a SSL certificate so that users login details are encrypted. I can set this up for you from as little as £15 per annum.
